Director Michael Bay's Santa Barbara House goes on the market for $6.8 million.

In early September, the spectacular Santa Barbara residence of 45 year old director Michael Bay (of the Transformers franchise, the Island, The Rock, Armaggedon, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys and countless commercials) went on the market for 6.8 million.

Built in 1993, the 4 bedroom 4.5 bath residence is 5400 sq.ft. on approx. 1.3 secluded acres with expansive ocean and island views.

Designed by award-winning Santa Barbara architect Jan Hochhauser, the 3-bedroom, 3 and two 1/2 bath residence enjoys an infinity pool with spa, vast entertainment patios, lush landscaping and is complete with a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom guest house.

The home has a bright, open concept floorplan with a giant barrel-vaulted skylight illuminating the sophisticated great room which has a fireplace, of course. The living room, also with a fireplace, opens to firepit patio.

The well-appointed kitchen has carrera marble countertops:.

The luxurious master suite has two private balconies, generous closets, and a jetted tub in spectacular bath:

There are two other separate bedrooms, each with en suite baths. The home has a full laundry room, a/c, ample storage, a creekside deck, a rose garden, a sweeping lawn and 35+ palm trees.

The very private setting includes a gated entry, a three car garage, and is minutes to Upper Village in Montecito.

A 12.2 Billion Dollar Home Is The World's Most Expensive Home Ever Built. (UPDATED)

UPDATE: I'm sorry to report that despite being furnished the following information by Stuart Hughes' own company, recent reports hint that this story is greatly exaggerated, if not completely fabricated. The house seems to be in the 'planning stages' not actually built as Stuart Hughes claims. Unfortunately, this is not the first time Mr. Hughes has made many suspicious with his outlandish claims of luxury products. Born Rich reported his luxury yacht was a fake and Computer Choppers dedicates an entire page on their site to warn customers of Stuart Hughes' claims. As a result, I will no longer be reporting on products from Staurt Hughes. A special thanks goes out to Home Designing for their sleuthing. My sincerest apologies.

I am keeping the original post below for your utter entertainment:

Another ostentatious product from Stuart Hughes - the world's most expensive home ever built. Touted as "The World's First Gold House", it's a luxury home built by Zug Switzerland's exklusivHAUS in collaboration with Stuart Hughes, who's known for his outrageously expensive custom luxury items.

THE WORLD’S FIRST GOLD HOUSE

Kevin Huber of exklusivHAUS approached Stuart Hughes for an unprecented project. Mr. Huber, who designs unique custom homes for high end clients, had one client who wanted something truly extraordinary.

The completion of the home took five and a half years and cost $12.2 billion USD (£7.5 billion)

The home resides on a secret location in Switzerland near the Italian border and sits on a lot measuring 2,442 square meters. It has a living space of 752 square meters, 8 rooms, a 388 square meter terrace, a basement with a special stone wine cellar measuring 245 square meters and a 4 car garage.

What makes the house so very pricey is the over 200,000 kilograms of solid gold and platinum fixtures and fittings and the specially designed flooring throughout is made from meteoric stone with shavings of original 65 million year old T-Rex Dinosaur bones embedded in each tile.

New Modern Concrete House in Madrid Resembles A Bunker. But What A Bunker!

One of the most popular posts ever featured on this blog was that of a large concrete home in Poland by kwk promes, whose sliding walls and ominous exterior resembled a modern fortress.

This recent project, Concrete House II, from Spain's architecture firm, Joaquin Torres' A-Cero, gives that sanctuary a run for its money with its wild bunker-like appearance. The modern residential home features giant angular planes inside and out.

Externally, the home has an austere appearance. Dark grey concrete angled walls replete with landscaping allude to an underground residence, although the home is above ground.

Inside, the home has a surprising amount of light and echoes the exterior with it's angular kitchen counters, desks and faceted furnishings. Along with a modern kitchen, a formal dining room, den and office, bedrooms and baths, the home has a screening room and ambient lit underground parking garage. Great attention is given to both the interior and exterior lighting, utilizing spot lighting and concealed ledge lighting.

The kitchen features very unusual counters, island, table, and range hood whose slopes and planes are reminiscent of the residence's exterior design:
