Fox News media analyst Lauren Ashburn on Sunday suggested that former prisoner of war Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl could be a Taliban sympathizer because he was released after five years of captivity wearing a Muslim "smock."OK, so maybe his uniform was dirty. He couldn't have popped down to the Waziristani WalMart for a cheapo jacket and tie?
Just because you're in dentention doesn't mean you can just let yourself go. A natty Kieffer Delp shows how it's done. |
"Wall Street Journal" Editor Paul Gigot argued on Sunday that the minimum wage should be kept low because it would teach workers that they did not want to work low-wage jobs. You people are always accusing conservatives of refusing to help out with worker retraining and education but look at this! Though I personally think I already know a lot about how I don't want to work low-wage jobs.

Reaction ranged from anger to shock to befuddlement after Indiana Treasurer Richard Mourdock compared the nation's direction to Hitler's Nazi Germany during a farewell speech at the Indiana Republican Convention on Saturday.Commenter RepubAnon, noting that a condition of Critical Godwin had already been obtained, figured that there was nothing left to lose in listing some of the many ways in which Nazi and American conservative policy prescriptions resemble one another and I tagged on some remarks of my own which I want to repost here:
"The people of Germany in a free election selected the Nazi Party because they made great promises that appealed to them because they were desperate and destitute. And why is that? Because Germany was bankrupt," he said.
But let's just add for the record that the German people did NOT elect the NSDAP. The Nazis won 33% in November 1932 (down 5% from the previous elections in June), when President von Hindenburg AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CONSERVATIVE INTEREST invited Hitler and his large minority to form a government IN COALITION WITH CONSERVATIVES. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G... There were only three Nazi cabinet members, including Hitler himself as chancellor, in the government he formed in January; the large majority of the cabinet was from the conservative-nationalist DNVP. After the Reichstag fire in February, the Communist party was banned, but Hitler again failed to win a majority in the March elections. The parliament gave him emergency powers in a vote of March 24 (all the CONSERVATIVE members voting for, only the Social Democrats against), enabling him to ignore the constitution and take total control. The people had nothing to do with it (except for their faith that all those conservative parties would respect the constitution), it was all the cowardice of the CONSERVATIVE members. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A... Just sayin'.
