Holy 6 Months!

This weekend, my lovely husband reminded me that I had totally forgotten about our 6 month anniversary! Not that we were celebrating or doing anything crazy for it, but March 29th came and went without me even realizing that we had been married for 6 months. Those six months have flown by and I really can't believe our first year of marriage is half way over. I still smile thinking of our wedding day, and love coming home to my husband every day.

So I figured it was finally time to wrap up my wedding recaps- and we're almost there! Last time, I shared our dinner and toasts, followed up by the recipe for the best potato salad ever that we served at our wedding. Next up- cutting the cake and the garter/bouquet toss!

We only had a small cake for cutting and then had a huge dessert table (huge thank you to all my aunts, cousins and friends for baking the goodies). The cake was a white cake with raspberry filling and butter cream frosting- mmm. I only managed one bite of the cake- and missed out on ALL the desserts...this still makes me sad. But there was nothing left and everyone is still raving about how delicious it all was.

I love these three pictures. My brother-in-law creeping in back of picture #1, my lovely husband as I'm feeding him cake, and of course- kisses.

Now, again, I'm going out of order here. But who cares. We were originally not sure if we wanted to do these or not, as I know how much Doug hated doing it at other weddings. But when I gave him this option, he figured since he had to do it so many times, it was only fair to make our single friends do it at ours!
My sister-in-law's sister (and makeup artist) caught the bouquet!
My 9 year old cousin caught the garter.
I had surprised Doug with a Green Bay Packer's garter. Now, I have to say, I did not wear my garter all day. I actually kind of forgot about it (though thankfully it at least made it to the reception) and about 5 minutes before we actually did the tosses. I'm really glad about this, as it was super uncomfortable and kept sliding down my leg, but it was worth it when he said it was the Packers! Also- instead if just shooting it behind his head, he put it on a football and threw it that way. There were a few targeted individuals I had instructed him to throw the ball at (their girl friends all thanked me)...but they all stepped back and let my cousin jump on it.

Plus he danced around with it on his head for the rest of the night, which was hilarious!
