Perfect Gift for Mom (and Dad!!)

Sunday was Mother's Day. Obviously. I didn't get to see my mom on Sunday, but she is coming up this weekend to help start our garden and to plant flowers in front of our house. Now if only this rain would hold off for long enough. I'm not complaining though...it's not snow!!

She cleans up nice. But she's always happier doing yardwork.
Anyway- back to Mother's Day...more specifically to my mom. She's kind of super incredibly awesome. I've always known this (even when I tried to fight that fact when I was in high school). ...but with us moving into a house, it's just become even more apparent.

She pushed us to refinish our floors, and was a huge help to Doug in getting it done. Seriously...I got home from work and she was down on her hands and knees with a sheet of sand paper making sure it was perfect. Every time she visits, she rolls her eyes at the fact that I still have boxes that we need to unpack, but then she helps me find the perfect place for all that random little crap. The last time she visited, she had barely been here 5 minutes before she was in the back yard ripping ivy off our porch, chopping down trees, and raking stuff up.

Buying her presents for mothers day is never easy. She'd rather have a new axe to chop firewood than a piece of jewelry. While she likes flowers, she would rather have ones she can plant than put in a vase.

It's rare to come across a gift that you can give to your husband (or boyfriend), your mom, your dad, your brother or niece or cousin or best friend. The SAME GIFT to all of those people! And with perfect customization to make the gift personal and perfect for each person.

Enter Datevitation. I had seen these cute little books floating around the blogosphere. I had even made one for my husband for our one year anniversary (even sticking with the paper theme), but I hadn't really considered the fact that it would be an awesome gift for my mom as well! They are coupon books- you choose the dates and customize them how you want.

When you hear "date", you think of going on a date with your significant other. But there are over 500 date ideas to choose from- plenty of options that are perfect for your mom or dad (hint hint Father's day is coming up!) or brother or friend.

One feature that I absolutely loved was the Add Your Face option. How hilarious is that?? I was able to put actual photos of my mom and I in the different date photos. It was an easy to use option- and I know my mom is going to love it (since I didn't see her on Mothers Day, she's getting it tomorrow).

I love that you can customize the text.
Hint: Me getting free tickets for my mom to the orchestra isn't that difficult...I get them for free.
Don't judge. I'm all for a cheap date :)
Books normally start at just $25 so it makes for an awesome (and cheap) gift.  I know that Mother's Day has already passed...but it would make an awesome gift for Fathers Day. Full disclosure: I was given a Datevitation book for free, but all opinions are my own. Remember- I had already purchased one of these on my own, and I was excited to be able to get another one.
