My Battle With A Flag

I had one goal yesterday when I got home from work. To FINALLY hang out our Ohio University flag which has been sitting around the house for two weeks. Well, that and sit on the back porch, drink a beer and read my book. But really, the main goal was the flag.

A few weeks ago, when we finally got it- I ran out and got a flag pole, got home and realized the pole was too big for the holder that was currently on the house. Then I procrastinated for 2 weeks before order a holder in the correct size. Seriously though...why even make the flag pole an inch when 99% of holders are for 3/4 of an inch.

Getting the old holder off was a pain in the ass because it had been painted over like 3 times. And then the holes didn't line up on the new holder- so I had to bust out our drill to drill new holes. Which of course means I made the first one too big.

Power tools and pink toes.

Finally though, the holder was up. I went to put the flag on the pole and realized there were no loops on the flag to hook it to the pole, so it kept sliding down. I'd come this far though, damnit. So a needle and thread later and I had sewed the flag to loops on the pole.

And doesn't it look perfect??
