Crazy Dog Mom Here

On Thursday, Doug and I started seriously talking about getting a dog. We both were looking through online at dogs that were available in shelters and foster homes. I submitted our application Thursday for a few different pups that were through one rescue agency.

Through a flurry of emails, we set up a meeting with one dog on Saturday. Then she came to visit us on Sunday. Oh and then she never left.

So without further ado, I am now a crazy dog mom to Lacey (name might change...stay tuned on that one). She is a 3 year old black lab retriever mix. We are currently on a two week trial period with her to make sure she is a good fit for us.

She has very much attached to me and is still a little skittish around Doug. We have yet to introduce her to her "cousin" Dudley (my brothers golden retriever) or my nieces or other people. But the foster mom assured us that once she got comfortable with us, she would be find with other dogs and visitors.

Yesterday morning, we said no dogs on the couch. Last night? Not so much. But we are standing strong to our no dogs in bed rule. Our bed is not big enough for three! She tried a few times last night, but always listened when told her to get down. And we're both currently browsing Amazon for a super comfy doggy bed for her instead of the pile of blankets she slept on last night.

While I always assumed our first dog would be a puppy, I'm really happy with the choice we made to rescue an older dog. She's already potty trained and crate trained. She doesn't chew on things. She walks really well on a leash. Kind of amazing actually.
