Taking the Next Step

Apartment living. Most of us have done it. And while it's not the worst thing in the world, since I graduated college and have been in multiple different apartments/house rentals. Meaning I have been dreaming of the day that I could buy a house.

Doug and I have been living in our current apartment for a little over a year and a half. We moved in together a few months before our wedding when my time was ending in my last place (man I do NOT miss those yappy dogs and horrible insulation).

If you read the post Kate over at The Florkens wrote a few days ago- it's basically my life. I can't stop longing for what's next. Houses, babies, moving to the next step. It has been my life for the last few years. Once the whole marriage thing happened, I have been constantly looking and waiting for the next step.

And well, it's time. Tomorrow we are meeting with a realtor. We're taking the first steps to owning our own home. And I'm terrified and happy and scared shitless and SO DAMN EXCITED. Buying a house is a damn big investment. But Amber's post about how not a house, but love and family, make a home- it was MUCH needed, so thank you lady!

My question for all of you lovely ladies who have gone through the home buying process- what should I expect? What were some of the highs, the lows? What do you wish you would had in a house that you didn't really look for? What are some things that really just don't matter? Basically give me ALL the advice!!

Allow me to introduce you to one of the best new bloggers on the block. No, but seriously. If you haven’t read Voyage of the Mee Mee yet, you’re missing out. Amanda is not only fricken hilarious, but so incredibly real.

Like this post about how kids aren’t for everyone. Or this one about how having an opinion and being a butthole are two very different things (plus she used butthole in post title which is awesome). She stands up for what she believes in, and girl is damn good at it!

Obviously I could go on and on about how awesome Amanda is. Oh wait, I already did. But you really should just go check out her blog for yourself! And while you’re at it, follow her on Twitter because again- she says the funniest shit you will ever read.

Plus I feel like I’ve known her for years, just by reading a few posts. Though that could be that after every post she writes, I feel like we’re the same person.

She loves smiling. I love smiling.

Her boyfriend says ridiculous shit. My husband says ridiculous shit. Which is also why she is doing an awesome linkup- Shit Men Say (don’t miss it! It goes live on January 14th).

She would make a fabulous blate. I am awesome at blating. Which is why when all the damn snow melts, we will make it happen!

We both let the little shit bother us. But seriously...why do people have to be total jerks and throw trash on the ground for no reason?

Also shout out to Anna- who is an important part of this plan.

Make sure to follow her on Bloglovin' and Twitter.
