What's in a name?

I had a random post written up about my wine fueled, blog chatting and clothes swapping last night. But it was pretty boring. Even though swapping clothes (and not shopping!) with some other blogger ladies was pretty awesome.

When I came across this linkup with Jessica, Kelli and Miranda, I knew I had to join in!

Margaret Rose

I honestly don't know where my parents got Margaret from. What I do know is that when I was born, they were going to call me Maggie as a permanent nickname. My brother, who was 2 1/2 when I was born was having none of it. He put is foot down and insisted that my name was Margaret, and that he didn't understand why people were calling me Maggie because that wasn't my name. So there's that.

I love my first name- even though I used to think it sounded old lady-ish. And don't even get me started on the ridiculous nicknames that come with Margaret- Marge, Peggy, Peg- whaaa? So unfortunate. Only person allowed to call me Marge is my grandma...and I call her Granny in response.

But I really love my middle name. I was named after my great grandmother on my mom's side- Anna Rose. I am one of four other cousin's who share the same middle name, including my cousin was was my MOH, and love that I share this bond with them. And you can bet I will be giving my first daughter the same middle name- it is a tradition I would love to continue.
