Dealing with Difficult People

Everyone has to deal with difficult people at some point in their lives. Whether in your job, personal life, at a store, or wherever. You all know the kind of people I'm talking about...they have to disagree with everything; they talk down to you; they mock your ideas, then later pass them off as their own; they assume they told you something and when you don't know it- act like a total bitch and blame everything that went wrong on you. Basically a huge bundle of joy.

Without going into specifics because I like my job, there are a few people like this that I have to deal with on occasion that drive me to drink. One of these people scares the shit out of me because no matter what I say, they just glare at me like I have done absolutely everything wrong. And I mean everything wrong in the whole. wide. world. At least, that's how it feels.

The other person continually tells me how to do my job, even though they have no expertise or idea what they are talking about. Or completely undermines my opinions/decisions in an effort to ass kiss difficult person #1 talked about above.

So here are a few steps in dealing with difficult people, specifically in the work place.

1. Master your poker face. Seriously, learning to not roll your eyes whenever this person speaks is a really important skill to have.

2. Nodding your head and saying "Yeah. I understand. Definitely" when you are really thinking "I hate you. I hate you. I hate you."
And I don't care that I just used this gif last week. I love it that much.

3. Repeat after me. Passive aggressive. Especially because aggressive will get you fired.
Funny Confession Ecard: I'm not passive-aggressive. I use indirect communication skills.

4. And then immediately go and bitch to your coworkers about it.
Funny Workplace Ecard: Bitching about other people not working really makes the day fly by.

5. My favorite step. Drink.

I'm pretty much an expert at #5 by now.
