Getting My Fitness On

As I mentioned yesterday, I joined a gym on Sunday. A few trips to TJ Maxx, I finally at least looked like I knew what I was doing when I walked in there. I even managed to drag myself out of bed to go to a class at 5:30am! Who am I??

Anyway, as part of signing up, I was offered a free fitness assessment. I figured it would be a general assessment to figure out where I am physically and what I was looking to get out of a gym. What it ended up being was someone hard selling me for 45 minutes on personal training, which I had absolutely no interest in.

After wasting my time (that I would have actually rather used working out), I said I couldn't commit to anything without talking to my husband (you know, making decisions about spending lots of money often require a discussion with your significant other). And he then said "Oh so you don't think your husband will support you in your journey? What if it was only $5?" Answering yes, he then told me that it was obvious that getting in shape was only worth that much to me.

I was pissed, said thank you and walked away. Promptly throwing away his business card. And spent the next 25 minutes on a treadmill watching RHONJ and shaking my head.

I'm happy I joined the gym...I've done two wonderful classes and am excited to do more. But people like that are really what has always kept me away from gyms. And really? You question my husband not being supportive of me? He happily agreed that my gym membership could come out of our joint account because he knows how important it is to me! Thankfully I have an awesome friend who is helping to keep me motivated and not letting the whole situation get to me.

Anywho- I went home, poured myself a Skinnygirl Margarita and made us a fantastic dinner with lots of carbs. And I'm perfectly happy with it.

On a high note, I got my package yesterday from Elle & K Boutique. Seriously adorable clothes, always free shipping (this is a definite plus for me), and regular sales and discount codes. Not to mention the cutest packaging and a handwritten note thanking me for my order. And I love my new tank! Win, win.
