35 years

On Monday, my parents celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary.

Yes my dad wore a powder blue suit.
And had a ponytail. I love him.
My parents are definitely the best role models for having a long, happy, loving marriage. They were married for 5 years before my brother was born; with me following 3 years later. At the time they were living in Cleveland Heights, but decided to move down to Holmes County when I was only a year old. Part of this was that someone needed to live in the house that was on the land my grandma had purchased. But part of it was to give my brother and I someplace wonderful to grow up.

They love playing golf together and traveling. They love going on date nights and overnight trips to check out fun places around Ohio and new restaurants or seeing a movie. They still kiss each other good morning and good night and frequently many other times during the day (c'mon Mom and Dad, that's enough!). Even after 35 years, you can tell that they are so happy and love each other. Not to mention, they are amazing parents and grandparents.

I can only hope that Doug and I have such a happy, loving marriage and I can't wait to spend the next 34 (any many more) years living up to the wonderful role models we have in my parents.
