Chicago Weekend Part 1

This past weekends was one of those rare weekends where everything is amazing. Such a fun and fabulous weekend, you spend the week after just remembering parts of the weekend and smiling. Such an awesome weekend that you keep wanting to repeat it. Well this past weekend was that weekend. My girls weekend in Chicago was everything I hoped for and more.

Friday, I had taken the day off of work. Which worked out for the best, considering I spent the morning at the doctor's office FINALLY getting antibiotics for a sinus infection. We flew out of Akron-Canton Friday afternoon, arriving in Chicago around 4:30. Battling the train and rush hour traffic on the bus, we finally made it to my friend Rachel's place in Lincoln Park.

Now, every time I have gone to Chicago, I have done the touristy things. Shopping on Michigan Avenue, seeing the sights. But this is the first time I really just got to enjoy the city like a local. I think that's part of what made it such a fantastic weekend!

Anyway- we headed to a cute little hole in the wall bar/restaurant- Matisse for dinner. After three pitchers of amaze-balls sangria and delicious fish tacos, we made our way back to my friend Ashley's parents condo downtown where we were staying for two of our three nights. Two bottles of Two Buck Chuck and some sunflowers (Ashley had had a horrible trip), the four of us finally crashed around 2 am.

Awesome split pitcher of sangria- half white, half red.
Saturday morning dawned...with a quick grocery shopping trip for breakfast foods...and of course, champagne. Promise there will be more than just pictures of alcohol.

Mimosas. Duh.
This was the only part of the trip where we took off and did the touristy things- wandered up and down Michigan avenue; did a little shopping; of course went to the Bean.

Following naps, showers and of course, primping, we were ready for a night on the town! We took a cab back towards Lincoln Park and met up with one of my college friends Christie. Christie lived next to me in the dorms, and it was wonderful to catch up with her before our crazy night out on the town. We did dinner...at Matisse again. With more sangria. Obviously.

After dinner, we headed over to meet up with my friend Rachel and her friends, who we would be doing the booze trolley with! We had no idea what to expect, but basically, we just drove around Chicago for 3 hours and drank and sang and danced. We only ended up stopping twice- once for an amazing view of the city and  the second for bathroom breaks and beer.
So awesome!
Birthday girls on the trolley- so fabulous spending the weekend with her!
The trolley had started to get a little wild by the time we finally got back to our starting point, so I'll leave that debauchery- along with our fabulous Cinco de Mayo/birthday Sunday Funday for the next post!
