Weekend recap!

Oops- I started to write this Monday and forgot to finish, which is why you're getting a weekend recap on a Wednesday!
As I've mentioned in pretty much every post on this blog, my niece is a huge part of my life. I love her to pieces and spending time with her is always awesome. Though insanely exhausting! After spending most of my day with her yesterday, I crashed on the couch the instant we got home- and definitely didn't watch the 2nd half of the Super Bowl. But it was an awesome weekend when I got to spend time with her every day this weekend.

Friday was game night at my brother and sister-in-law's house. My host brother (who spends huge chunks of time in US cities even though he lives in the Czech Republic often flies to Cleveland for the weekend to get out of his hotel room) was also in town. An insanely long Settler's of Catan game, Jet's pizza and a few bottles of wine made for a good night.

Saturday morning, we were super productive and did some cleaning and our grocery shopping for the week. After that, I headed back to my brother's house for lunch and to hang out. We also took Caroline sled riding for the first time. This was also the first time we were able to get her into her snow pants without screaming (on her part...not ours). Though she still isn't a huge fan of her gloves....which I don't really understand because every time she woke up from a nap, she put her socks on her hands. But back to the point....

The sledriding wasn't her favorite thing ever. Not sure if she didn't like her show outfit (she was definitely waddling), the snow in her face (of course her sled tipped at the bottom of the hill), or just being cold. But she did enjoy going down the slides at the park....so who knows.

Love my little one
Saturday night, I went to a wine tasting at Cedar Green Wine- which is right around the corner from my apartment. For $12 per person, it made for a fabulous girls night- we were able to taste a large number of wines. And while the food wasn't the best- and we ended up stuffing our face with fried rice, egg rolls and crab rangoon afterwards, it was still a fun evening.

Sunday was another family day at my brother's house. I spent most of the day hanging out with the little one, helping them rearrange/clean their basement, bake cookies (where Caroline wanted to try every ingredient...including the raw egg and shortening.Gross), and watch the Super Bowl while eating a ton of food- fried chicken, buffalo chicken dip, taco dip, coleslaw and of course- cookies!

NO we are not Ravens fans. But my host brother went to school in Baltimore and
decided she needed the Raven's jersey.
She did cry for the first 20 minutes she was wearing it though...
same as she once did in a Steeler's outfit
I love weekends like this. No set plans- just spending time with the people I love. And Caroline is at a point in her life (almost 2- holy crap!) where she is SO much fun, though also so ornery and stubborn. She comes by it honestly as this is definitely a family trait on both sides of the family. But even while entering her terrible two's, she's adorable. She loves to make people laugh and if she sees people laughing at something she does, she keeps doing it. She also has been making more choices lately- what she wears, which episode of Thomas the Train ("Choo choo's Margy" while handing me the Play Station remote), what she eats (her only requests for her birthday party were cake and soup). Whenever I get to their house, she always yells MARGY, followed by DOUGY (even if he's not there) and gives me a hug. And it makes me smile every time.
