Valentine's tradition

Doug and I have been together for 6 years. We started dating in January, so that also means 6 Valentine's Days together. But we have always kept it low key. And by low key- I mean wings from Bdubbs and a 6 pack (the 6 pack wasn't added until year 2 when we were both 21).

This tradition was started because for Christmas, my mom had told all my relatives to get me gift cards for either Bdubbs or Coldstone. I ended up with about $75 for each. And since we were both broke college students, using gift cards for our Valentine's Day dinner was perfect. While I love going out to a super nice dinner, we save that for other occasions- our dating anniversary (though there always seems to be a snow storm), my birthday, etc...

Some early photos of our relationships...oh such babies.
On top of our yearly Bdubbs trip, Doug was awesome about gifts. While we don't really do gifts anymore (come on- now we're broke newlyweds!), the first few he got me are still some of the best and most thoughtful. Year 1 (after dating for a whole month)- a pink John Deere hoodie. Which was awesome and I still have it! Year 2- a Tom Petty Concert DVD set. These are still two of the best gifts...while not necessarily huge or fancy, they were gifts that showed how well he knows me- his country girl, Tom Petty loving girlfriend.

Obviously a little more recent :)

So as I said, we're not really huge into Valentine's Day. But I love our low key date night. And heck- we even splurge for both ranch and blue cheese...and a large order of the potato wedges with cheese on them!
