I have been incredibly lucky when it has come to the jobs I have held...more so incredibly lucky with the people that I have gotten to work with and become friends with over the years.
My first job ever was being a cashier at a grocery store, a job I started at 17. I worked there for about a year, and then took a job at a cheese factory- where I worked in both the gift shop and mail order department (during all winter breaks from school). Especially while I was at the cheese factory, I became very close with some of my co-workers, and even though we don't often see each other anymore- they are always good for a laugh.
When I got to Ohio University, I was pretty much completely broke. Having just come home from a year in Europe- I had spent any small amount of money that I had actually saved. So I got a job at the student recreation center. And this is where I spent the next 4 years of my life- working up from just being the girl who checked people in at the front or checked out equipment, to being a shift supervisor, and a manager. The friends I made working at Ping became my family during those 4 years (sorry for the corniness- but it's true!).

The supervisor/manager cookout at the end of the year. Last one :( |
After I graduated from college, I couldn't find a full time job so I became and AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer- working with another nonprofit in Cleveland. There were 7 VISTAs working there for a year (well most of us for a year!), and it seriously could have been a season of the Real World. The 7 of us worked in a huge room, that much resembled an elementary school gym. Working in very close quarters, there was definitely the drama and tension, but there were also frequent happy hours, and I became very close with those co-workers.
Myself with my coworker Ashley and two of her friends. Definitely had many many hilarious days/evenings with these girls! |
And finally- my current job. I have been here for almost one year- 1 week until my 1 year anniversary! I felt like the new girl for maybe two weeks, before I was made to feel so comfortable by the ladies in my office (we have 1 guy in our office now...only 1). Needless to say, after a year of working here- we have all become friends and I really enjoy spending time with them!
My lovely coworkers and myself at the Browns game. |
I only hope that I continue to have such amazing luck in having awesome coworkers with future jobs.
