Since graduating highschool, I have lived in 2 countries, 4 cities, and 12 houses/apartments/dorm rooms. I have lived in a rural town of 800, a foreign city of 55,000, a college town of 45,000 (including all the students), and have finally settled in the eastside ‘burbs of Cleveland. It has looked something like this:
While I was born in Cleveland, my parents left this city when I was just a little one and moved to Killbuck, Ohio- where I spent the first next 17 years of my life. Growing up in the middle of nowhere, on a 42 acre tree farm, in the county that hosts the largest population of Amish (shout out to the HC!), I always imagined I would be a country girl for life. I love bonfires, pitch black nights lit up by millions of stars, knowing everyone in town and who is related to who, the county fair- demo derby included, riding 4-wheelers, mud, partying in barns and cornfields, Busch Light. You know...normal things for a girl to like.
After graduating high school though- I became an exchange student and lived in the Czech Republic for a year. With a new found love of beers that did not end in Light- I also realized I could never go back to the small town life I had left behind.
While I know I don’t live in a booming metropolis like New York or Chicago- transitioning from Killbuck to Europe back to Ohio University and finally settling in Cleveland was a huge adjustment. Each of those four places are near and dear to my heart, and have made me the person I am today. I will always be a country girl, a lover of all things Czech, an OU Bobcat for life and Clevelander who loves her city (and it’s sports teams) to the end.
All that being said- I’ve been wanting to start a blog for a long time. And now is as good a time as any! I’ve now been out of college for over two years, in my new job for almost a year and am still trying to figure out life post-grad. I live with roommates and am waiting for the day that the BF and I get a place together. Speaking of the BF as he’ll probably pop up in this blog pretty often, we have been together for almost 5 years and met during our sophomore year at Ohio U. In addition to spending time with the BF, I love cooking, eating, good beer and wine, reading, being outdoors and sports- I am definitely that girl who could spend every summer day at a baseball game or will be screaming at her tv during an OSU or Browns game.
So here it is- country girl in the city, figuring out life after college, and loving every minute of it.
